One hundred and twenty-three years after the historic raising of the Philippine Flag in Kawit, Cavite, the Philippines celebrates the second Independence Day in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.
For more than 300 years, the Philippines has been subject to abuse, slavery, oppression and terror; and now, we are facing countless threats to the nation’s democracy and our fellowmen’s health.
Today, as we commemorate Independence Day 2021 with the theme “Diwa ng Kalayaan sa Pagkakaisa at Paghilom ng Bayan”, let us all be reminded of the struggles and sacrifices our heroes have taken in order to achieve the independence of our country. To the heroes of the bloody revolutions of yesterday to the modern heroes of the pandemic, let us honor their sacrifices and let us unite once again to emerge victorious amidst the endless struggles and adversities.
With the values of the Union of Nation-builders and Innovators for Transparency, Empowerment, and Development or the UNITED Party of CIT University, we shall continue to acknowledge the role of every young member of society and empower them as we take a collaborative stance for a stronger, better, and healthier tomorrow.
Together, we, the youth and the citizens of the sovereign Republic of the Philippines, shall #UNITEasONE to strive for a future free from discrimination, oppression, and most importantly, free from the threats of the pandemic.
