HISTORY
UNITED or the Union of Nation-builders and Innovators for Transparency, Empowerment, and Development was officially founded as a student political party on February 5, 2014 after a series of name changes and discussions on the way forward. Prior to this, there was only one student political party participating in the CIT Supreme Student Government Elections.
Reginald Ratilla, James Cruz, Sarah Claire Talaba, Neil Odchigue, Kevin Ray Chua, Esa Ione Prieto, Carmel Amigable, Fe Magdalene Resurrecion, Kara Jean Utrera, and Romulo Ceasar Caminero were the people who gathered and formed this new student political party to offer itself as an alternative to a one-party led student government.
While it was not able to secure the Presidency, the Vice Presidency and the majority of legislative representatives from 2014 to 2016, UNITED persisted.
In 2017, that persistence resulted into UNITED pulling off an upset victory by winning the Vice Presidency, its first win for an executive position since it started participating in the SSG elections.
Despite of not achieving its goals to win the two executive positions and a legislative majority in 2018, UNITED set its sights for 2019 where it went on to achieve those goals and obtain its first supermajority. This also gave an opportunity for the Technologians to experience the UNITED brand of leadership in the Supreme Student Government.
UNITED withstood the first referendum on its brand of leadership in 2020 and has continued to earn the trust and support of the Technologians by giving UNITED its second and third supermajorities in 2021 and 2022, respectively.
As of 2022, UNITED has fielded a total of 23 candidates for the CIT University - Supreme Student Government Executive Department, including 2 women as presidential candidates and also 2 women as vice presidential candidates and a total of 303 candidates for the CIT University - Supreme Student Government Legislative Department since 2014, 200 of which (66%) were elected to their respective positions representing their departments and colleges.
